Just like our Sense Organs, Even our phones have digital sense.
Proximity Sensor :
Ever noticed how your display goes off when you place the handset to your ear during a call ?It is because of proximity sensor placed near the earpiece of a phone. When you bring the device close to the cheek this sensor turns off the screen to avoid inadvertent touches. It also conserves battery.
Barometer :
Higher-End phones come with a built-in barometer-a-sensor that can measure atmospheric pressure.Data measured by it is used to determine the altitude, Which in turn results in improved GPS accuracy.
Some of the other sensors used are thermometer(Used to monitor the temperature inside the device and its battery), air humidity sensor, Pedometer (to count the number of steps taken), heart rate monitor and fingerprint sensors that lock/unlock the device.
Gyrosecope:
The Gyroscope adds an additional dimension to the info supplied by the accelerometer by tracking rotation or twist. Some of the cool shortcuts in out phones like "Double karate chop to turn the torch On/Off" or "Twist to open the camera" are possible because of gyroscope.Ambient Light Sensor:
This sensor automatically optimizes the phone's display brightness depending on t he environment. So, in a dimly-light surrounding, the ambient light sensor jack up the brightness level. This enhances the overall user experience and save power. but in most devices, it is either too bright or too dim-nothing in-between.
